Gorgeous, true to life and sheep, rural romance, August 2, 2015 By Lucy Waterhouse This review is from: Chasing Dust Clouds (Kindle Edition)
Chasing Dust clouds is a new direction in writing for Lilliana Rose. I have only read her steampunk romances before, but this first book in her rural romance genre blew me away with her honest and realistic interpretation of a young woman taking on the hard slog of running a sheep property after the death of her father.
Life on the land is difficult at the best of times but after her Father’s death, Dusty Miller is even more determined to keep the family farm operational and thriving. She will do anything to keep it running and financially stable, even if it means precluding her own personal relationships.
Dusty’s first meeting with Blaise is unconventional and it does set the tone for the remainder of the story. This is a family drama filled story with humor interspersed that gives this story it’s well rounded essence.
The highlight of Chasing Dust Clouds is that Lilliana has used her own memories of growing up on a sheep farm and the country lifestyle. She has also incorporated the rural characters that come with this existence and seamlessly brings them to life on these pages.
Lilliana did an excellent job building this story up. I was intrigued by these two character's story, invested in their relationship, and was hoping that despite the hiccups that Dusty and Blaise would find their happily ever after. A pivotal scene at the local hotel that was written with genuineness and depth really had put their future in doubt.
Ms. Rose has restored my interest in the New Adult genre by giving me a fresh look. Not only with her seamless writing, the laughs, the rural drama and the complex relationship between Dusty and Blaise but in the way that she totally captivated my attention. Lilliana gave me just the right amount of everything – dusty boots, drama, hot sex, and romance all combined and layered together to really give me something that I enjoyed reading; not wanting to stop until I got to the very last page.
Chasing Dust Clouds whisked me back in time to a place where a country girl in her dusty boots and cluttered ute works hard and enjoys all a rural life has to offer. It reminded me of times with your friends at the local hotel, B&S balls and knowing your neighbours well – too well sometimes!
Lilliana Rose has written a wonderful story that’s wrapped around characters we get to know and love as if they are real people. I highly recommend this book and this author!
